CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis: Victory for Florida Firefighters in Battle Against Cancer
PALM BEACH, Fla.— Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis was joined by members of the Palm Beach fire service community to announce the passage of legislation that provides cancer benefits to Florida’s firefighters. The legislation passed unanimously by the Florida Legislature this year and was officially signed into law by Governor DeSantis on Friday, May 3, 2019.
CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis said, “Firefighters are on call for us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They take their jobs knowing there is a risk. Together, we gathered today to celebrate a victory: Governor Ron DeSantis has signed legislation to help our firefighters battle cancer.
"Thank you to the Florida Legislature, especially President Bill Galvano and Speaker Jose Oliva, for their support for this essential legislation which gives Florida’s firefighters benefits they need and deserve. As State Fire Marshal, I am incredibly proud our state stepped up to help these brave and women.”
