No Florida licensing exams offered July 1 through July 5

Rules for federal immigration bonds effective July 5
Rules clarifying that a general lines agent license is required to transact federal immigration bonds will become effective on July 5, 2010. No other license is needed. Additionally, the rules state an agent holding only a limited surety (bail bond) agent license may not transact federal immigration bonds. The rules further specify that a general lines agent may not transact bail bonds unless he or she also holds a limited surety agent license and appointment.

Proposed rule chapter for bail bond agent penalty guidelines
We are proposing a rule chapter to establish clear and consistent standards for penalties imposed upon bail bond agents for violations of statutes and rules. The proposed rules also incorporate a new form that is to be used by us when offering bail bond agents the opportunity to pay a fine for certain alleged non-criminal violations, in lieu of the administrative hearing process. If requested, a rule hearing will be held on July 8, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.

NFIP Cubrirá los Daños Ocasionados por el Petróleo Arrastrado por el Huracán, Confirma FEMA
The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will pay claims for damage to homes and contents from oil driven ashore during hurricanes, its officials have announced. They've advised that to recover damages stemming from the additional risks oil poses should a hurricane strike, claimants seeking payment under the NFIP must prove there is a flood as defined in the standard flood insurance policy. If that can be proven, damage caused by pollutants to commercial risks is limited to $10,000. Home and condo payments will be limited to policy limits, and oil or water with oil in the yard is not covered. The cost of complying with any local or state ordinance, including one that requires special removal methods for oil, is specifically excluded, with the exception of certain floodplain management mitigation requirements. There will be no coverage for testing for, or the monitoring of, pollutants unless there is a law or ordinance requiring it.
