​On August 1, 2011, National Group Insurance Company (“NGIC”) was ordered into receivership for purposes of rehabilitation by the Second Judicial Circuit Court in Leon County, Florida ("Court"). It was determined that a successful rehabilitation was not possible and on October 10, 2011, NGIC was placed into liquidation. The Florida Department of Financial Services is the Court appointed Receiver of NGIC.

Información General

NGIC, a Florida corporation licensed in 2004, was headquartered in Coral Gables, Florida. The company primarily wrote commercial auto and commercial property insurance coverage in Florida. NGIC had approximately 7,600 policyholders at the time it entered liquidation. The company was licensed in Florida and Georgia; however, NGIC reported no written premium in Georgia.

On July 18, 2012, the Department mailed Proof of Claim forms to all known claimants for National Group Insurance Company. The deadline for filing a Proof of Claim is October 10, 2012. If you have not received a Proof of Claim form, please contact this Department to obtain a form.  Your claim, when filed, will necessarily be recognized as class 8, late filed.  Please note that we do not anticipate sufficient funds in the estate to pay claims for that class. 

Loss and return premium claims against NGIC which are defined as "Covered Claims" by Florida Statutes Chapter 631, are administered and paid by the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association.  All remaining claims against NGIC must be filed against the NGIC Estate.

Claims Reports

On December 11, 2014, the court approved the First and Second Interim Claims Report with Recommendations on Claims. On January 5, 2015, the Department mailed 8,631 Notice of Determination letters to all known claimants. Due to insufficient assets, only Classes 1 and 2 were evaluated for a recommended dollar amount. The Amount Recommended Claimant field on the Notice was  blank for Classes 3 through 11. Claimants are allowed to object to either the amount recommended on their claims, their claims class (for more information on the claims classes, please see Section 631.271, Florida Statutes), or both. The Objection Filing Deadline was February 23, 2015 and all objections have been resolved.

On December 23, 2015, the court approved the Third Interim Claims Report with Recommendations on Claims.  The Department mailed Notice of Determination letters to eight filed claimants in classes 6 and 8 which were evaluated for class only.  The Objection Filing Deadline was February 22, 2016 and all objections have been resolved. 

On November 07, 2016, the court approved the Fourth Interim Claims Report with Recommendations on Claims.  The Department mailed a Notice of Determination to one claimant in class 3 which was evaluated for class only.  The Objection Filing Deadline was December 12, 2016.

At this time, the department continues to pursue and recover all possible assets in order to provide the most favorable distribution possible.

Estate Closed

​The Department was discharged of all of its responsibilities in administering this estate and the estate was closed at 11:59 PM on August 31, 2019.
