Floridians,Breast Cancer Awareness Month image

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is personal for me and my family. Last year, as Hurricane Michael destroyed our hometown, we were in Tampa at Moffitt Cancer Center getting news that would shatter our family. My wife’s breast cancer diagnosis rocked us to our core. It was a tough blow to our family but I am happy to say that with treatment from one of Florida's best cancer centers, Katie is now cancer free.

There are troubling statistics out there—1 in 8 women in the United States develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. The good news is when breast cancer is detected early (in the localized stage) the 5-year relative survival rate is 100 percent. That’s why raising awareness and encouraging early detection are both so important.

CFO Patronis and his family image During the month of October, I urge Floridians to educate themselves on the signs and symptoms of not only breast cancer but all cancers as the fight for a cure continues. Share this information with loved ones…it could save a life. While early detection saves lives, we must keep fighting until no lives are lost to cancer.
