On Monday, I joined Senator Jeff Brandes and our health care heroes in Tallahassee to fight for COVID-19 liability safeguards for our health care industry. My top priority this legislative session is to encourage Legislators to pass meaningful liability protections that includes our health care and long-term care communities. We must support these heroes as they work to care for us every day.

On Wednesday, I anunció that more than $24 million in unclaimed property was returned to Floridians in the month of January 2021. Since the fiscal year began, we have returned more than $218 million, which is especially important now more than ever. As we continue to endure the economic impacts of COVID-19, I will do everything I can to financially help Floridians get through these tough times. I encourage all Floridians to search now for unclaimed property at FLTreasureHunt.gov.

Lastly, I deployed members of my Division of Investigative and Forensic Services’ (DIFS) Bomb Squad Team to Tampa to assist the Tampa Police Department and the FBI in preparation for Super Bowl 55. While there, bomb squad detectives will conduct sweeps of venues for explosive and hazardous devices. This year, Florida is proudly hosting our 17th Super Bowl and while there will be limited capacity allowed inside Raymond James Stadium in Tampa this weekend, safety is still our top priority. While many of us will be watching from home, let’s not forget those who will be working to ensure the safety of those attending the game.

I hope you have a great weekend!
