This week, I delivered Kansas City’s famous Jack Stack Barbeque to Fire Station 1 in Tallahassee. Ahead of Super Bowl LV, Missouri State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick and I made a friendly wager on the outcome of the game. I had no doubt that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would come out on top!

Since the pandemic began nearly a year ago, our first responders have been on the frontlines fighting for Floridians and I wanted to take this opportunity to reward their heroic efforts and provide them with a delicious BBQ lunch from Kansas City.

On Monday, I reiterated my commitment to fight alongside Governor DeSantis and Speaker Sprowls for vital consumer data privacy measures this legislative session. As someone who’s been in small business my entire life, I believe in the power of private enterprise, but private enterprise must respect property rights and consumer privacy. It’s no secret the way big tech firms leverage and profit of our data. There’s nothing more valuable to a person than one’s own identity, and Floridians deserve to have control over their own personal information.

Lastly, I also announced the arrest of a licensed life and health insurance agent on multiple charges, including allegedly stealing personal account information to file false insurance applications. Having a trusted financial advisor like your insurance agent allegedly steal your banking data and create false information for their own personal gain is inexcusable. We'll continue working aggressively to fight the type of fraud that impacts consumers' insurance rates.

I hope you have a great weekend!
