Floridians,

On Wednesday, I applauded Governor DeSantis for signing the Florida Leads budget. With the Governor’s signature, the Legislature fully funded the Department of Financial Services priorities aimed at protecting Florida firefighters and fighting insurance fraud that ultimately increases insurance rates.

Throughout one of the most challenging years in our state’s history, Governor DeSantis has boldly led Florida forward by making the tough decisions needed to protect the health and safety of our most vulnerable while working to keep businesses afloat and ensure opportunities remained available to every Florida family. Florida is a beacon of freedom and the envy of other states like New York, California, and Michigan who locked down and forced their residents and businesses out - many relocating right here to the Sunshine State.

CFO Patronis statement on the budget

On Thursday, I anunció more than $27 million in unclaimed property was returned to Floridians during the month of May 2021. As your CFO, I’ve made it my mission to return every last cent of unclaimed property back to its rightful owners. Just this fiscal year alone, we’ve already returned more than $326 million in unclaimed property. It takes a only few minutes to search and I encourage all individuals and business owners to start your lost treasure hunt today at FLTreasureHunt.gov.

Lastly, on Tuesday, the first day of the 2021 Hurricane Season, I highlighted “Prepare Florida,” an initiative to encourage Floridians to prepare now before a hurricane makes landfall. My PrepareFL.com website serves as a one-stop-shop for disaster preparedness information and resources to help Floridians ensure they are prepared to weather the next storm. An above-normal hurricane season is predicted, with the possibility of up to five major hurricanes. As we’ve seen in the past, hurricanes can form and strengthen quickly, leaving little time to prepare and evacuate. The time is now to prepare and protect your home and business. Do not wait until a storm is approaching. Prepare now, Florida!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Atentamente,

Jimmy
