Floridians,

On Monday, I issued a edicto supporting the people of Cuba. The proclamation comes following protests by Cuban citizens over their lack of freedoms and being denied basic human rights. I strongly stand with the Cuban people and condemn the decades of repression and economic suffering brought about by Communist rule. Additionally, on Wednesday, I was proud to join Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and other officials to lend another voice in supporting a free Cuba. The entire state of Florida supports those who are fighting against tyranny and pray that freedom wins.

This week, I was also on the ground at Surfside meeting with the people who are putting in a lot of hard work to see this mission through. I couldn’t be prouder of the US&R Task Force teams for their dedication, in grueling conditions, to aid the Surfside community. These families will continue to need our help, prayers and support in the days, weeks and months ahead.
