On Monday, I encouraged Floridians to join my Holiday Money Hunt and search to see if you or your business has Unclaimed Property in Florida. Currently, Florida has $2.5 billion in Unclaimed Property waiting to be claimed. During the holidays, everyone can use a little extra cash, and an unexpected check from the State of Florida may help make things a little brighter this year. One in five Floridians has Unclaimed Property and it only takes a few minutes to search now by visiting FLTreasureHunt.gov.

On Tuesday, I shared safety tips to ensure Floridians follow the proper precautions when frying a turkey this Thanksgiving. Its important to never gamble with the gobbler and always put safety first when it comes to your holiday cooking plans. Kitchen-related accidents can cause serious property damage and can turn tragic in a manner of seconds. By following a few safety tips, Floridians can enjoy a safe Thanksgiving with family and friends.

On Wednesday, I warned consumers to beware of potential scams surrounding Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the busiest shopping days of the year and with recent supply chain issues, many Floridians will be doing everything they can to get their shopping done earlier this year. While we all enjoy a great holiday sale, I encourage all Floridians to shop smart and verify before you buy, especially when shopping online. Visite FraudFreeFlorida.com to learn more about common scams and report fraud in your area.

Lastly, as families across Florida light the first candle on the menorah on Sunday to mark the beginning of Hanukkah, I offer my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating the Festival of Lights.
