Annual Adjusted Household Income

The earning, spending, and taxpaying unit is the household, which consists of all persons who occupy a house, an apartment, or other housing unit. Households include families along with groups of one or more unrelated individuals.

The estimated household taxable expenditures by income are based upon published tables from the 2012-2013 Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey (CES). In using this data, it was necessary to limit the annual adjusted money income input for the calculations to a range of $10,000 to $250,000.

The actual state taxes paid by each household will vary widely depending on whether the household purchases the items in question at all, as well as by amount purchased.

Many households will not pay state taxes associated with the purchase of tobacco or alcohol products. Amounts identified for these categories are based on the average amount paid by Florida households for a given annual adjusted money income.
