Department of Financial Services, Elder Affairs to Announce New Senior Fire Safety Program

TALLAHASSEE-On Monday, October 4, the Department of Financial Services, the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Department of Elder Affairs will announce the launch of a new fire safety education program targeting seniors. A press conference to announce the program will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Georgia Belle Apartments, 301 E. Carolina St., in Tallahassee. Information booths will be on display beginning at 9 a.m.

Ten years ago, residents of the Georgia Belle were chased from their homes by an early morning fire. The announcement of the new fire safety education program will kick off Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 3-9.
