25-year Veteran to Guide Flair and Cms Projects

TALLAHASSEE - Florida Treasurer Tom Gallagher has announced that a finance, technology and government expert with nearly 25 years' experience takes over today as state project manager for the Florida Accounting and Information Resource (FLAIR) system and cash management system (CMS) replacement project.

Rebecca W. Sutton, of Tallahassee, most recently served as Chief Information Officer with the Department of Management Services. At DMS, she improved service delivery through the implementation of new technology and achieved agency-wide savings by establishing enterprise licensing.

From 1990 to 2001, she implemented technology projects for various government organizations, including the City of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Before that, Sutton directed finances for the cities of Carrollton and Dallas in Texas.

"Recruiting someone of her expertise and caliber is a coup for the people of Florida and those employees throughout state government who rely on this accounting system," Gallagher said.

Sutton, a certified public accountant, received her bachelor's degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1978.

FLAIR, the state's accounting and cash management system since 1997, was formerly known as SAMAS (State Automated Management and Accounting System).
